Week fifty-one of my 366 Photography Challenge was filled with diverse moments, from capturing the moody charm of crows to spotting a roe deer during a quiet walk.
Day 342: Crows in Monochrome
Monday was a very cold and dark day, and I wanted to capture the moody atmosphere. In the past, I tried to photograph crows in a tree, but they flew away. This time, I started taking pictures as I approached them to ensure I had a good final image. Fortunately, I managed to capture the moment.
Day 343: View of the Moon in My Garden
I spent the whole day working and didn’t manage to go out for a walk. It was a pity because the day was gorgeous, although very cold. I saw the moon appearing through the branches of one of the trees in my garden during a beautiful sunset. I seized the opportunity and captured the image for today’s challenge. Mission accomplished!
Day 344: Aberdeen Christmas Fair
I went to the city centre to volunteer and visit some shops to start finalising Christmas presents. While there, I fast-walked through the Christmas fair to take an image for the challenge. I chose this angle, where everything looks like a toy town due to the perspective of the giant teddy bear.
Day 345: The Sun Among the Branches
While driving to pick up my daughter from sports, I noticed how the sun was setting beautifully among the branches. Since my work didn’t allow me to go out earlier, I kept my camera with me and hoped for an opportunity. Thankfully, I captured this lovely view, which saved the day for my challenge!
Day 346: Pink Clouds Over Bennachie Mountain
What a stunning sunset over Bennachie Mountain! December is becoming increasingly hectic, making this challenge harder each day. While driving to pick up my daughter, I made a quick stop to capture this beautiful scene.
Day 347: Roe Deer
Before heading to a friend’s party, I managed to go for a walk. After an intense work session earlier, the break was refreshing. During my walk, I spotted a roe deer in the fields. Although it noticed me, the gentle animal didn’t run away as they often do.
Day 348: Urban Mondrian
The unexpected image for today began with a trip to recycle when I discovered a coolant alarm in my car. I went to the petrol station to refill it and, while waiting for the car to cool down, noticed the pattern on the front of a nearby hotel. It reminded me of an urban Mondrian painting. I cropped the image during post-production to enhance the composition. This marked the end of another week in the challenge.
I’m nearing the end of this challenge, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up due to the busy schedule that the end of the year inevitably brings. However, staying creative and adapting to unexpected situations has been key to completing this week successfully.
